Hard luck to the girls u14 soccer team who reached the Leinster fianl narrowly losing out to Loreto Kilkenny. It was a great achievement for players and management
The board have agreed to reintroduce Leaving Certificate Applied for 2019/20 following an increase level of interest among pupils and parents
A review of the school day was carried out among the school community and the option of moving to a half day on Fridays was considered. Following discussion and vote of parents 56%, teachers 85% and pupils 52% in favour it was agreed to trail it for 2019/20
The Board are delighted that following the second of the Child Protection Inspection that the school was found to be fully compliant under all headings
Agreed Report June 2019 Meeting Moyne Community School
The members reviewed the attendance statistics for the school year 2018/19.Concern was expressed at the level of absents, particularly among senior and 6th year pupils. Strategies will be put in place to continue to monitor attendance
The board have submitted an application under the Summer Works 2020 scheme for refurbishment and replacement of roof and upper windows as part of its ongoing plan to upgrade the school infrastructure
following a tender process guided by the Schools Procurement unit Get Fresh Catering have been awarded the contract for provision of food and meals in the school
Agreed Report August 2019 Meeting Moyne Community School
Mr peter Masterson has been elected Chairperson for the coming School year and Ms L fahy Vice-Chairperson. the member congratulated and thanked outgoing Chair Mr L McEntire for his work during the year and paid tribute to his over 40 years of public service to the local community.
The board reviewed an analysis of Leaving Certificate 2019 results. the statistical review was commissioned through Athena Analythical and will form the basis for ongoing SSE processes.
Agreed Report September 2019 Meeting Moyne Community School
The members are delighted that the school has attained the Pieta house Amber Flag for its achievements in supporting student and teacher wellbeing. The wellbeing committee were congratulated for their work
As part of the School Digital Strategy the Board are pleased with the introduction of Microsoft 365 to all students and teachers. it is envisioned that this initiative will enhance teaching and learning in the school.
The board have approved a school closure day under the Framework for the introduction of the new junior Cycle. This CPD day for staff will focus on Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Reporting the members carried out its annual review of the School Self Evaluation Checklist and are happy that the school is complying with its legislative and regulatory requirements
Agreed Report October 2019 Meeting Moyne Community School
The board have approved expenditure to install a wifi system in the school in accordance with the Department digital Strategy and to enhance the use of ICT in Teaching and Learning. The Framework as set out by PDST and NCTE was used and the seven companies in the framework were invited to tender. It is hoped the work will be completed by the end of the calendar year.
A review of the Junior Cycle results was undertaken and the members were pleased with the continued improvement in results
Members of the board Financial sub-committee will attend FSSU training in Sligo on 12 November.
