Moyne Community School was founded in 1973. It became one of the first community schools in the country when the Latin School in Moyne and Ballinamuck Vocational School closed their doors.
The responsibility of carrying on their respective traditions was passed to the new Community School. The present building was opened in 1974.
The school is a multi-denominational, co-educational school with a comprehensive range of subjects and first class modern facilities. The school has always been renowned for its warm friendly atmosphere, based on a relationship of mutual respect between teachers and pupils
The Pastoral Care Programme offered by the school ensures the development of the student in a holistic manner. This programme is anchored in the guidance counselling and chaplaincy services.

The  Chaplains work in co-operation to ensure the spiritual and pastoral needs of all the students are met.
The Mentoring Programme is designed to facilitate the smooth transition of new pupils from primary school into first year. The Mentors are recruited from amongst the senior year and their role is to assist, guide, inform and ‘watch out’ for first years to ensure that they settle into the school and are happy here

Sports facilities include
Well equipped Gymnasium

10 acres of sports fields [Soccer Pitches, Gaelic Pitches, Rugby, Training area]
