Arrangement for necessary visitors such as contractors and parents will be restricted to essential purposes and limited to those who have obtained prior approval from the principal. The Department of Education Inspectorate may also need to visit schools and centres for education to support them as appropriate in the implementation of public health advice relating to creating a safe learning and working environment for all.
The prompt identification and isolation of potentially infectious individuals is a crucial step in restricting the spread of the virus and protecting the health and safety of the individuals themselves and other staff, contractors and visitors at the workplace. A detailed sign in/sign out log of those entering the school facilities should be maintained. The school should maintain a log of staff and students contacts.
Parents Dropping pupils late or collecting early
School begins at 9:00am promptly each morning and runs until 4pm Monday to Thurday and 13:20 on Friday. It is important that pupils are in school on time and stay for the whole school day.
There are occasions where pupils may have appointments but these should be kept to a minimum.
Due the the added restrictions that COVID-19 has brought the following procedures need to be followed. Please note it is not possible for our Clerical Staff to leave the general office to seek out students nor can announcement be made over the school PA system as this interrupts teaching and learning of all classes.
Pupils Arriving Late Should you be late arriving parents are asked to ring the general office from their car in the Car Park stating that the student is late and just arriving. Students should enter the school at the Side Entrance to the General Office so that the Clerical Officers can mark them as present. Parent are asked to ensure this process is followed even if pupils are only a few minutes late.
There is an increased onus on schools to maintain accurate attendance records to provide for Contract Tracing if required and these procedures are vital.
Pupils Leaving Early Pupils needing to leave for appointments must report to the office at the time agreed with you the parent. Please place a note in the student journal stating the time the student will depart. This must be shown at the office. Parents should remain in their car on arrival and ring the school to request the pupil be sent out to them.. Pupils will not be allowed to wait or congregate in the reception areas as this will break our social distance protocols..
If pupils are going home with parents of other pupils it is your responsibility to ring the school to inform us of this.
All early collection should be arranged to coincide with change over of class time.
Pupils telephoning home
To comply with increased hygiene considerations pupils will no longer be able to call home themselves on the school phone. If a pupil feels unwell they can report to the office and inform the clerical staff what is wrong and they will then contact parents to inform them.
To reduce congregation at the office and unnecessary social interactions pupils will no longer be able to ring home for class material, books etc. or for non essential purposes.
