Agreed Report January 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The carried out a review of the annual accounts for the 2016 calendar year. These accounts were adopted by the Board. Each month the Board submits its accounts to the Department of Education.

​The academic awards ceremony held in December were very successful and the member paid tribute to all involved. The Board also congratulated those junior Certificate students and teachers who were recognised recently at NUI Maynooth for achieving an A grade in higher level Business Studies.

School was closed for pupils on 30th January as per DES CL0024/2016 to allow teachers to attend cluster meeting for the introduction of the new Junior Cycle. Teacher not attending cluster meeting carried out in-service in Child Protection Procedures, First Aid and School Planning


Agreed Report February 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
CL0016/2017 Statutory Requirements for the Retrospective Vetting of Teaching Staff, Non-Teaching Staff and Others. The contents of the circular were discussed. Copies have been emailed to all staff and the requirements of management will be put in place.

Parent teacher meeting for 2nd and 5th year pupils on 28th February held under M58/04. This completes the three parent teacher meetings for the 2016/17 school year.

The board discussedf the contents of CL0011/2017 Community and Comprehensive Schools Approved Allocation of Teaching Posts 2017/18 School Year and Initial Allocation of Approved Teaching posts for the 2017/18 School Year. The board recognised the new allocation for SEN allocation.

Following a recruitment process Ms P Murren has been appointed as Assistant Principal. The Board congratulate her and wish her well in her new role.

Agreed Report March 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The Board welcomed Mr Pat Donnelly as a member to replace Mr M Mulleady MCC. as a nominee of Longford Westmeath ETB.

Congratulations were passed to staff and pupils on their recent social media awareness campaign. The video produced by staff and student to raise awareness and support for CF Ireland had been viewed over 30000 times in a week.

The members expressed concern  that the local Ulster Bank was one announced for closure. This would have implications for handling of cash. This item will need discussion when further information is available.


Agreed Report April 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
It was agreed by the Board to close school for pupils on May 19th to facilitate staff and school planning on numerous issues including a post review, calendar for 2017/18, structure of TY due to increased enrolment and the  introduction of wellbeing.

Some maintenance work take place on girls toilets this summer. This work would include painting, flooring and replacing sinks in all three girls toilets

Agreed Report May 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The Board have agreed to the provisional Calendar for the 2017/18 school year. A schedule of post of responsibility which was reviewed by staff was discussed and approved.. The Board also sanction the advertisement of a number of teaching posts that may arise for the next school year.

Preparations for the State Examinations are advanced and the members expressed their good wishes and support to all students and teachers involved.

The members expressed their congratulations to staff and students who have been involved in many successful Student Enterprise projects this year


Agreed Report June 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The Board acknowledged the significant contribution to the school of Ms Maura Wrynn and Mr Pat Jones who are both retiring this summer.

The closure of  Ulster Bank Arva and the reduction of cash handling services of Bank of Ireland was discussed. The inability to quickly and safely lodge cash will prove to be a difficulty for the school. It was agreed to investigate on-line payments  through the school VSWare system in light of this reduction of services.

The recommendation of the selection committee for the appointment of successful candidates to teaching posts was accepted and approved by the members. The Board also agreed to the advertisement of further teaching posts that may arise..

The annual review of the school Anti-Bullying policy. The Board acknowledged the commitment of the school Pastoral Care team, Chaplain, Guidance Counsellors and staff in general for their work in building a positive school environment.

As this was the final meeting of the current Board, the Chairperson Ms Moffatt thanked the outgoing members for their dedication and commitment over the last three years. The newly appointed Board will take up office at the next meeting in August .


Agreed Report August 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
This was the first meeting of the newly convened Board of Management which will serve until 31st July 2020. The first order of business was to elect a Chairperson. Mr Michael Denning (nominee of the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois) was duly elected with Ms Loreto Fahy (also a nominee of the Bishop ) elected as Vice-Chairperson.

The board received a report on the maintenance and school improvement works that have been carried out during the summer break..
The recommendation of the selection committee for the appointment of successful candidates to teaching posts was accepted and approved by the members

The members discussed the necessity to appoint a part-time caretaker. The costs of such an appointment were presented and agreed and a sub-committee was appointed to carry out the process.

An overview of the Leaving Certificate results was discussed by the Board. Congratulation was expressed to all students involved and it was hoped all would have successful pathways through their future and further education. It was agreed that the annual Student Achievement Awards would be organised again this year.

Agreed Report September 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The members were given a report on the introduction and working of on-line payment system that has been forced on management due to the closure and reduction of services in local banks. 

School closures on 25th October and 13th November we approved by the Board for the purpose of In-School and Cluster Day CPD by JCT. 


An overview of the Junior  Certificate results was discussed by the Board. Congratulation was expressed to all students and teachers involved.

The Board sanctioned the use of school ground for a number of once of local events. It was also agreed to research the feeling of the school community in moving to a half day on Fridays in line with all other schools in the region

it was agreed to advertise the vacant Assistant Principal position in school.

The Board went through the content of the School Self Evaluation Legislative and Regulatory Checklist and approved its adoption.


Agreed Report October 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The Board have once again approved the funding of six Gaeltacht scholarships at 600 each and two Foreign Language scholarships at 800 each. The competition for these scholarship will be advertised and administered by relevant teachers.

The school was closed on 16th and 17th October due to instruction from the DES. The Board are pleased to report no damage was caused by the storm.

The Board have approved the report of a selection committee to appoint a replacement teacher of Ag Science.

The appointment of a part time caretaker was also agreed following the report of the interviewing sub-committee.

Agreement was given to fund  the development of a teachers work area in the school following a request from staff at the start of year staff meeting.


Agreed Report November 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
The Board have produced a draft Statement of Attendance Strategy for discussion. This statement will be brought to the Parents Association AGM, posted on the school website and discussed at staff meeting for comment. before being brought back to the Board for ratification.

The member have congratulated all involved in the recent Open night. a large attendance from our feeder schools was present..

The Board wish to congratulate Tristan Noack Hoffmann and Anna Walch who will receive DCU Academic Scholarship Awards for excellent academic achievement in the Leaving Certificate. Shauna Arbuckle is also congratulated on gaing a Cothrom na Feinne Scholarship in UCD.


Agreed Report December 2017 Meeting Moyne Community School
Following a selection process Ms Rose Henning has been appointed to the position of Assistant Principal. The members congratulated her and wish her well in the role. The members also agreed to the secondment to Mr B Nolan to the position of full time advisor to JCT

The draft statement of strategy was placed before the Board for approval. The secretary informed the board that it had been placed on the school website, brought to the AGM of the Parents Association and with the members since the November meeting. It had been discussed at middle management meeting and circulated among staff. The Board formally adopted the policy which will now be sent to Tusla as required.

The Chairperson and members wish all of the school community a very happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year
