Dear member of the class of 2024, As I’m sure you are aware past pupil Gemma McGee died suddenly in August 2018 from Sepsis / Meningitis, preventable when the ACWY vaccine has been received. Gemma did not have the vaccine; she was twenty four years old.
Gemma worked extremely hard to achieve her goals. She went to Trinity College and qualified as a Geologist. During her four years there she struggled financially, working part time and studying. She graduated and achieved her dream and started working with Teck mining company as a Geologist.
Her family ask you to please take care of yourselves and your friends when you are in college and enjoy your time there. They are aware of the financial struggles students face and have set up The Gemma McGee Memorial Bursary.
Their aim is to financially help as many young students as possible as they begin their time in third level education so they can achieve their goals and dreams as Gemma did.
Three once off bursaries of €1000 will be offered to students studying a level 6, 7 or 8 course. They will be presented by Gemma’s family at the Academic Awards ceremony in December. Please find an application form in the link below. Closing date for receipt of application to Ms. Flanagan, Chaplain by post only is Friday 8th November 2024.
